established in 2017
Meadowgate Alpacas is located in beautiful Beaverdam, Virginia . The farm sits on 10 acres of pastureland surrounded by forest and the Newfound River.
Stephen and Nicole moved their family to Virginia in 2005, relocating from a little town about 30 minutes north of Boston. Their farm originally started as a small horse farm, having brought their two foundation horses down from New England with them when they moved. In 2015, after two years of difficult decisions and soul searching, Stephen and Nicole decided to sell their remaining horses and take a break from the demands that maintaining a horse farm, even a small one, can bring.
Time has a funny way of bringing you back to what you love. After a much needed break, the Phillips family realized that they missed seeing "faces" in the fields and started researching other opportunities to own animals that would be easier to maintain and kinder to the property. Research led Stephen and Nicole to alpacas and they immediately fell in love...who wouldn't when you see these smart, soulful animals and get your first "paca hug"!
The Phillips Family has been working hard to bring together quality, friendly animals whose fiber and dispositions are the foundation of their breeding and agritourism programs. Together, Stephen and Nicole are developing superior alpaca who are bright contributions to any farm.
Thank you for your interest in Meadowgate Alpacas.
